Water Meter Upgrades to Begin in March
CANAL WINCHESTER - Canal Winchester Department of Public Service will begin a multi-year project upgrading the city’s water meter reading infrastructure in early March. The upgrades utilize current technologies that will allow more flexibility and capabilities than the existing system.
“Upgrades are necessary to phase out aging equipment and to utilize newer technology that will provide better service to the utility customers,” said City of Canal Winchester Water Superintendent Joe Taylor. “These upgrades will provide for a more efficient process of reading meters, help detect consumer leaks and unusually high usage, and, includes fail safes to quickly warn us of meter issues.”
To complete the upgrades, city staff will access a property to replace the existing exterior remote reading equipment with new components. On some properties, staff will need to gain access to the interior meters. In those cases, you will be notified to set up an appointment. Upgrades should take between 30 minutes and an hour to complete.
