Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival to sell raffle tickets in support of Wagnalls Memorial Library
CANAL WINCHESTER, OH – Organizers of the 99th Annual Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival are pleased to announce plans to support the Wagnalls Memorial Library Building Fund. The Wagnalls Memorial Library, located at 150 E. Columbus St. in Lithopolis, Ohio, is situated just minutes away from downtown Canal Winchester. The library recently announced a significant financial need, which if unsatisfied, could threaten operations within just two years.
“For nearly a century, our Labor Day Festival has been known for offering fun attractions and a small-town experience perfect for families. When our event committee heard that our neighbors at Wagnalls Memorial Library had a need, we wanted to pitch in and do what we could to help,” said Mayor Mike Ebert. “We decided that the best way to generate interest and to help with their funding would be to donate all money from our annual Labor Day raffle drawings to Wagnalls.”
The Labor Day Festival typically directs two raffle drawings during the annual event, with tickets on sale at the Festival Information Booth throughout the weekend. This year, buyers will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets, sold for $5 each, for a chance to win a 50/50 cash drawing or a large flat-screen Smart TV. (Raffle tickets will also be available at the Canal Winchester Community Center and at Wagnalls Memorial Library in July & August). Winners will be drawn at 5:00 p.m., during the festival’s closing hours, on Monday, September 2nd.
Labor Day Festival activities kick off on Saturday, August 31st and continue through Monday, September 2nd. In addition to the raffle drawings, festival attractions will include the annual Labor Day Parade, live entertainment, a car show, ice cream social, midway rides, and more!
